The Team

J.D. Matonti is NEW-GEN’s Founder and Creator. Mr. Matonti conceived the epic NEW-GEN universe encompassing many parallel dimensions; NEW-GEN, The Underworld, Earth, Zaadar-3, Nu-Mangi among other worlds. Based on his drawings, Matonti created the vast array of superhero characters infused with nano-powers, creatures and robots that inhabit the NEW-GEN universe.

Mr. Matonti has written and edited the six issue comic book series distributed by Marvel.  Matonti is currently developing NEW-GEN into a live action feature film saga and TV Series.

Matonti has over 20 years of experience in all phases of production: story development, production, editing, writing, directing, and producing. Mr. Matonti recently directed Mark Hamill (STAR WARS) and Tony Oliver (MIGHTY MORPHIN’ POWER RANGERS) in the NEW-GEN teaser animatic. Previously Matonti directed music videos for top recording artists and directed and produced several live action feature films including the riveting teen thriller LETHAL JUSTICE, LOOSE WOMEN (starring Charlie Sheen, Keith David, Giancarlo Esposito, Robin Strasser and Stephen Lang), MY EX-GIRLFRIEND’s WEDDING RECEPTION (starring Dom DeLuise and Deborah Gibson), BOBBY G. CAN’T SWIM (critically acclaimed film that launched the career of actor John-Luke Montias), and the documentary MONEY-DRIVEN MEDICINE (co-produced with Academy Award winner Alex Gibney).

Mr. Matonti received dual degrees from Syracuse University: a Bachelor of Science in Television, Radio, and Film from S.I. Newhouse School, the premiere communications school in the U.S., and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the Crouse-Hinds School of Management.

Chris Matonti joins J.D. as Founder of the NEW-GEN franchise. Chris, an experienced and recognized Filmmaker, has a multi-faceted background in the entertainment industry. He has produced several independent films and raised financing for them. Chris oversees the acquisition of content and distribution of films at Gabriel Film Group. Three recent films that he sold to a leader in the domestic home video arena are THIS THING OF OURS, CULT and INSIDE. Chris produced the documentary, MONEY-DRIVEN MEDICINE, with 2008 Oscar winner Alex Gibney (TAXI TO THE DARK SIDE). Chris is responsible for oversight of the company’s budget and strategic business development and implementation.

Chris Matonti received a B.A. from Bucknell University with degrees in Art History/Studio Art and Biology.

Julia Coppola is a Co-Creator and NEW-GEN Founder. Ms. Coppola has served as a financing partner and Executive Producer on various films. Ms. Coppola Executive Produced the documentary MONEY-DRIVEN MEDICINE.  Ms. Coppola has edited the NEW-GEN Comic Book Series I through VI. Recently, Julia created, produced, and edited the NEW-GEN Universe Story Bible along with Jeff Gomez and the Starlight Runner Team.

Ms. Coppola received a B.A. from the College of Notre Dame in Sciences and Secondary Education.

Roger Burlage joins the NEW-GEN team as Executive Producer on the live-action NEW-GEN feature film. Mr. Burlage is an established entertainment industry executive and leader with a vast array of experience and success in film and television business.  Mr. Burlage’s proven track record in managing companies, formulating and executing their respective business plans, and generating significant returns for their investors including orchestrating two successful initial public offerings. Roger has held the position of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of such companies as The Harvey Entertainment Company, LIVE Entertainment, and Trimark Holdings and was responsible for more than 1000 movies and television programs.  Such films include: ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, Stephen King’s CHILDREN OF THE CORN, Clive Barker’s HELLRAISER, THE ARRIVAL, and STARGATE.

Andrew McDonald joins A.P.N.G. Enterprises as a webmaster and Jack of All Trades. Andrew has run several websites over the last decade, his first being Rapture Press, the former home to his and many other people’s webcomics and The Review Zoo, which he ran for several years interviewing celebrities, developers, and the masses at various comic and video game conventions. Most recently, he has been helping with research and development for several NEW-GEN properties and continuing his interviews with several comic creators for the NEW-GEN Spotlight.

Andrew McDonald received a B.A. from Kean University in English.

Abdul H. Rashid, originally from Flint, MI.,  is an American graphic illustrator, creator, and developer of comic properties that focus in the genres of sci-fi, action-adventure and horror. One of the most highlighted of these projects is the NEW-GEN series, from A.P.N.G. Enterprises and distributed through Marvel Comics, which includes the currently developing prequel NEW-GEN: NEW DAWN. He has always enjoyed the art of story telling and sees the comic industry as the modern day vehicle for creating new and progressive presentations of mythology.

Having worked as a freelance for the past four years, he is in the beginning stages of putting out various creator-owned projects through his new studio AHR Visions in the coming year, specializing in extreme action and horror related stories. He is working to contribute fresh ideas and concepts to the industry and entertain the millions of fan of the genres in dynamic ways, ultimately including cross-media projects.

Rashid is a graduate of the College of Wooster and also holds an MBA. He is currently based in Ohio and looking to generate a “Hollywood” for the Mid-West. For more information, please visit www.ahrvisions.com

Peter Hoffman comes to NEW-GEN from a background of 24 years experience on Wall Street. He brings his financial expertise and relationship building to the NEW-GEN team. Peter will focus on assisting Chris Matonti on various company operations including expanding the NEW-GEN franchise into multiple media platforms.

Peter is a graduate of of the Choate School, and received his B.A. from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, ILL, with a major in Economics.

Kyle Post, comes to NEW-GEN from a background in college athletic administration and information technology. Through working in various higher education institutions, Kyle has gained expertise in marketing, event planning, web design, public relations and media relations. Kyle is also a Jack of All Trades, working with Andrew, in various areas of A.P.N.G. Enterprises concerning internet outreach and web design.

Kyle is a graduate of Blair Academy and received his B.A. from the University of Delaware in Sports Management. Kyle also received his Masters from the University of Delaware in Educational Leadership.

Ken Bane is a marketing, sales and biz dev whiz, and entrepreneur who joins A.P.N.G. Enterprises, Inc. to head up strategic brand relationships.  Ken brings together the digital, social, and branded entertainment experience needed to seek out brands with PASSION and FEVER for NEW-GEN’s transmedia fanboy audience. Ken has structured and managed unique media campaigns for the last ten years. Before that he was a city planner. He’s particularly proud of his first-ever-of-its-kind deal with Yahoo to stream full length TV shows online.  Clients include Microsoft, AT&T, Doritos, Unilever, Ticketmaster, Yahoo, AOL, eBay, EMI Records, and many others.

Dr. Bradley Edwards is an internationally recognized scientist in Nanotechnology and a global authority on space in the media and technical conferences and panels.  Among his achievements: selected as a top 20 space visionary for 2007, Arthur C. Clarke Innovator Award recipient for 2005, as well as named “Modern Leonardo da Vinci” by the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. Brad’s expertise in Nanotechnology allows the team to have a unique insight into cutting edge research and development and thus provides possible manifestations of these capabilities throughout the NEW-GEN™ story.

 

Merrick Murdock comes to NEW-GEN with 25 years experience as an independent multi-media producer in brand market advertising. Merrick has served as associate creative director and producer on marketing and brand promotion campaigns for over 60 different regional, national and multi-national corporations and enterprises. Merrick’s work has been recognized with awards including Emmy, Cannes Lion, Clio, Telly and Mercury.

Merrick lends NEW-GEN her expertise in building brand awareness, tracking and monitoring trends to enhance the position of the NEW-GEN Franchise in today’s marketplace.

Theo Nevins spent 24 years on Wall Street before privately venturing out on his own. Theo was in bond sales and trading at now fabled investment banks Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers, and Bear Stearns where he lived in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and New York. After founding Penryn Associates in 2004, he moved to Hong Kong and Beijing to work on real estate and Asian bond transactions. In addition to private equity investments, Theo is focused on global Conservation and helping children with incurable diseases.

Theo is a graduate of Choate Rosemary Hall and Colgate University.
